Story of Rose's Marriage to Len

From Rose's "diary" we found references to Grandpa.  The first mention of him is dated April 19, 1903, a Sunday, she was at the house of a friend in the evening and was escorted home by  "L. Pearson."  She would have been 25 years old and was still suffering, no doubt, from the death of her fiancĂ©, George Ellingson,  three years earlier.  Lennart would have been 30.

The next mention of grandpa is:  “Sunday May 3 and 10 went home with Pearson.”

“May 15th 1903 I went to hear Miss Ramsy at Provo with Pearson”

“July 24, 1903 Susie Goates and I went to Salt Lake and met him Pearson at Sandy, we went to Calders Park in the morning * * *."

“August 9th 1903 I went to Provo to the Ringling Brothers Circus with L. E. Pearson.”

“Sunday Sept 1 Mr Pearson and I went to meeting in the 3rd Ward.  After meeting he ask me if I would be his wife  * * * .  I received letters from him all the time."

On Christmas (her birthday) "Mr. Pearson was up for dinner."

Rose notes that she was given a ring as she and grandpa were traveling to "American Fork to the Sugar Company Dance."  [Apparently the ring was given to her between Christmas and New Years.]

On New Years day, 1904 "went to West Jordan with Mr. Pearson to see his folks and stayed a few days.”

“Feb 22, Mr. Pearson came down from West Jordan and we went to a dance at 3rd Ward.”

May 30 Len asked Rose's father for consent to marry her.

June 18, 1904 “I quit the store and they gave me a set of dishes.”

"Monday night June 20 I went to West Jordan and stayed with Len’s  folks.

"Tuesday 21 we went to Salt Lake got our marriage license and our furniture.

"June 22 Married in the Temple"
